Modules not available as historical & forecast time series modules

Hi guys,

is there a technical or rights issue reason why some modules are not available in the historical & forecast library?

Examples:

- the 'Revenue (Amounts, Growth rates)' module can be added in 'Annual' models, but not in 'Annual, historical & forecast' models.

- the 'Revenue (Variable, Amounts)' is only available in the 'Project Appraisal' library. I really like the Data Entry part and would like to use it in other models, too.

Is there a way to import those modules in every model?

Hi Franz,

This comes back to a couple of things: fundamental time series compatibility and the current content.

In terms of compatibility, the modules can only be inserted into models with compatible time series. So the Revenue (Variable, Amounts) can only be inserted into a model with a Monthly Forecast-Only time series. Annual modules can only go into Annual models, rather than Annual, Historical and Forecast and so on.

In terms of the current content: 

  1. for the generic content we have tried to maintain as much consistency as possible. In the case of the revenue with growth rates, there is a historical-forecast version referred to as Growth Rates, however this has no amounts piece in there - with the historicals (which are amounts) already included this module started to get a little confusing with an amounts aspect in the forecast periods as well;
  2. for the Revenue (Variable Amounts) module, this is highly specific to the project appraisal analysis and unlikely to be required in a rolling model with consistent periods, or potentially a forecast-only model with a higher periodicity (quarterly, etc.). It will still go into the Monthly Forecast-Only model of generic content though.

Thanks for the clarification. I customised a Growth Rates module to include optional Amounts forecast. I later found the respective modules in other libraries and just thought it would be great to use them in a historical-forecast module.
